Then a weekly Children’s Newsreel was started on 23 April 1950 around the 350,000 receivers. After that, It started casting its radio news on television simultaneously in 1946 with a still picture of Big Ben. Its television bulletins started on 5 July 1954. People’s interest in television grew up on Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. Almost 27 million people viewed the programme in the UK. For the first time, television overtook the radio’s audience of 12 million.
